It seems strange, his being gone, this time. It's more final than the last..........I think.

Yep....This time he is truly becoming his own individual person, with his own new life. I can understand your emotions. I would guess that the empty nest cliche is somewhat true, this time.

I don't look at it as getting my life back, exactly, since the kids and family were one of the main components of my life for so long. But I do get what you mean, that I can now, well, almost now, since the daughter will be sort of at home for the next year, shift the focus of my life back more toward myself as an artist and a wife. The daughter, :D by the way, is feeling a bit miffed that she doesn't have me jumping to help at her beck and call anymore. Hehe, she said she didn't like me anymore, last night. After work, I was trying to get as many as possible of the little plants that I had ordered, planted before dark, and had come inside to check online to remind myself how much light Irish Moss needed. I didn't jump up to help her find the TV section in the newspaper when she was asking which section it was in. :D She's been noticing that I'm not so 'helpful', this past year. :D She is going to be 21 this fall. I think she'll survive.

But as to the son, really being gone this time. I am working at not feeling anxious and worried. He's going to be 23 this fall. It is for the best, and I think he's getting his feet under him.

Curse of the Red Bull

I just wanted to call your attention to Curse of the Red Bull [link]
It's a submission by author Rich Knoll, here at deviant, about a character from one of his books and Amalthea from The Last Unicorn. It's a short story, presented here complete. It's a little long for a single entry, but I recommend you read it. It's an interesting addition to The Last Unicorn saga and introduces you to Shahly, a brave new character in the fantasy world. Enjoy.
