Shahly's Stand

Shahly's Stand is the cover art I did for Richard Knoll's fantasy story, Shahly's Quest. As a former librarian, I believe this would be listed as a Young Adult Fantasy book in many libraries. The story has unicorns and dragons as key characters, in addition to humans, and is filled with magic, love, danger, and suspense. The drawing is named Shahly's Stand because the young unicorn, Shahly has bravely chosen to stand and fight a terrifying dragon despite the uneven odds.It is along the lines of the series of books written by Brian Jacques and is similar in feel to Margaret Weis, Mercedes Lackey, and Terry Brooks.

Eventually this will be a 5-part series called the Chronicles of Brawrloxoss.

It was drawn at 6x9 inches on Fabriano paper with Prismacolor and Caran d'Ache and Sanford Verithin pencils. I have included a scan of the original drawing and low resolution proof of the art as it appears on the book cover. The band at the top and the font is not exactly as it prints out I am told and as soon as I get my copy I will update that image, and remove this final little note.
