I did this a few years ago. I liked the vibrant colors and swoosh of lines up the hill, but decided the center of interest was off and cropped the right side and then after much consideration cropped half an inch off the bottom. Originally the texture of the grass, up the hill, had a more windblown, straight up the hill, look.

It was taken from a photo I took north of San Fransisco. I love those hills. My daughter and husband kept saying it looked like a hay stack and I let it set, wanting to do something more to it, but having trouble deciding. I thought a dragon flying over the hill, or maybe a house and tree just over the hill, or a man and boy walking up the hill. Finally, recently, I shifted the color of the hill more strongly beyond the original sunny orange and added more shifts and moves in the grass. And I added the girl and dogs, innocent dreamers on a sunny California day.

Those of you who know California will say that I didn't get the bushes/trees exactly right. And I didn't. That's because I couldn't remember exactly which they were when I got around to doing a drawing, and the scale was such that you really couldn't tell which they were.
